- These terms and conditions apply to the rental and self-guided kayak expeditions.
Bookings are made via our online booking system. After booking, a confirmation and an invoice will be sent in a separate email. Once you have booked and paid, your kayak or activity is reserved. Upon booking, you pay the full amount. The price includes VAT. No refund will be given for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the booked activity. If you do not show up without canceling, no refund will be given. Hjälmaren Kayak AB reserves the right to cancel your booking at short notice for safety reasons. If we choose to cancel, you will receive a refund or be offered a new date that suits you. If you decide the weather is too poor to use your rented equipment, you have the option to reschedule. This option is only available if you are on-site in Katrinelund. For rentals, you can pick up your equipment no earlier than 08:00. Equipment must be returned by 17:00. Other times by agreement.
- You must be 18 years old or accompanied by a guardian who is responsible.
- You must be able to swim at least 400 meters.
- You must always wear a life jacket when paddling a kayak rented from us.
- You may not paddle under the influence of alcohol or drugs when using a kayak/SUP rented from us. If you behave inappropriately, e.g., neglect the rules of the right of public access, fail to use a life jacket, or commit a crime, we reserve the right to revoke the rented equipment for the remaining rental period without refunding the fee.
- All paddling is at your own risk.
- Paddling a kayak/SUP is considered the same as operating any other recreational boat. You are responsible for following maritime regulations. If damage occurs to the kayak/SUP, equipment, or someone else's property, you are liable for compensation. Check your home insurance for coverage.
- If you are late, you must notify us. If you do not return at the agreed time, we have the right to contact the coast guard. You, as the responsible party, will bear this cost.
- You are responsible for returning the kayak/SUP on time. Hjälmaren Kayak AB is not responsible for transporting kayaks or individuals who are unable to return to the starting destination. If you require assistance, we will help as resources allow, for a fee.
- If you wish to paddle from point A to point B and be picked up, this must be booked in advance for a fee. Hjälmaren Kayak AB commits to renting out kayaks/SUPs/equipment that are intact, functional, and suitable for their purpose.
- Associated equipment must also be in good condition. After your rental, you are expected to clean and tidy the kayak. The kayak/SUP must be returned in the same condition as when you picked it up. If you do not wish to clean your kayak yourself, you can purchase the service for 200 SEK.

Before launching he kayak, keep the following in mind:
- Solo paddling involves greater risks; bring a friend!
- Inform someone you know that you are going out on the water and when you expect to be back on land.
- Bring a warm change of clothes.
- Check that the hatch covers are closed.
- Listen to the weather report.- Dress according to the weather.
On the water
- Use common sense – assess your skill and ability relative to the weather and distance.
- Always keep your life jacket on.
- Ensure you are visible; wear bright clothing and use the equipment provided
- Pay attention to the weather, your companions, and other traffic.
- Avoid shipping lanes.
